Job Description and Expectations:
The primary tasks involve support of process optimization, reliability improvement, equipment modifications, and project management in the areas of stock preparation, sheet formation, drying, and finishing. A major portion of this effort will be applied to the Cotton Cellulose manufacturing operations, but support of our Wood Cellulose operation may be required when project needs dictate.
Process optimization generally includes issues such as rate improvement, product quality improvement, cost reduction, and new product introductions. Analysis of operating data, performing trials to understand production constraints, and work with Product Managers and Product Development on new product needs are some of the specific tasks involved in this area. This work is supported by our team of experienced laboratory technicians and analytical resources in our Product & Market Development organization.
Reliability improvement generally involves work on investigating reasons for downtime and identifying solutions for the indicated problems. Focus on training and development of operational procedures are included in this area.
Equipment modifications involve identification of improvements needed for reliability improvement, rate increases, or product capability and work with vendors to define the scope for the changes. In some cases, project management for implementation of the indicated changes may also be included.
The process engineer reports to the Vice President of Process Technology and reports up through the manufacturing organization.

Skills Required:: |
Requirements for this position include:
A Must have is BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and at least five (5) years of direct operational or engineering support experience in the stock preparation and drying areas.
Key skill areas include fundamental understanding of the processes and equipment, troubleshooting, communication (both written and verbal), ability to function in multi-functional improvement teams, and application of Total Quality and Lean Manufacturing principles. |
