Chinese Language Instructor for Summer Trip:
Job Profile
The Chinese language instructor will implement Chinese lessons for high school students with a basic knowledge of Mandarin in China. The program facilities will be based in Shanghai with extensive travel in Beijing and Yunnan. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, the ideal Chinese Language Instructor shares our passion for China and our core mission to spark a long-lasting relationship between China and our participants. Chinese Language Instructors will be enthusiastic, proactive and responsible facilitators of our participants’ learning experience, providing support and encouraging team work and personal growth through language learning. To be a Chinese Language Instructor, you must also have a valid U.S. or Chinese passport with ability to travel unrestricted to China.
Responsibilities
• Participate in curriculum planning (two times in May)
• Participate in June orientation (to be held early June)
• Be available starting June 15
• Implement China Prep schedule seven days a week, during June 29-July 20
• Travel with the group from the United States to Shanghai and return with the group from Shanghai to the United States.
• Attend a two-day workshop in May or June in the U.S. to meet program team, review specific goals, challenges, and emergency action plans.
• Lead dynamic classroom activities and group discussions that generate a cohesive bond between all members of the group
• Foster student desire to learn and appreciation of the Chinese language |
Skills Required:: |
Fluent Mandarin Chinese
Enthusiasm for Chinese language and culture
Valid U.S. or Chinese passport with ability to travel unrestricted to China |
