Reporting to/hierarchy: The Senior Director Hydrocarbons R&D
Function details: The candidate will be responsible for the scientific and technical leadership of the hydrocarbons research program with special emphasis on identifying and developing new, advantaged feedstock technology for Dow by implementing innovative catalysis and process technology.Expectations for this role include:
Demonstrate vision and expert knowledge in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and hydrocarbons processing.
Act as a subject matter expert and technical resource for the organization, in close cooperation with global partners.
Work effectively in a multi-functional environment to understand, communicate, coordinate and implement business technology objectives.
Define and implement a portfolio of projects.
Provide scientific and technical direction for projects.
Act as a mentor for the group of researchers in the execution of individual projects.
Participate in hiring outstanding talent to build the group’s expertise.Mobility/travel: 20% travelling for internal/external meetings, plant visits, industry conferences,
supplier meetings, etc.

| Skills Required: |
Education and qualifications:
PhD in catalysis-related chemistry field (preferably Inorganic Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering).
At least 10-15 years of experience in heterogeneous catalysis and hydrocarbon processing, preferably including industry experience.
Expertise in the area of alternate feedstocks (natural gas, coal, syngas technology, etc).
Established track record of scientific contributions.
Established network in the scientific field of catalysis, preferably in Europe.
Ability to provide technical leadership to research teams and groups.
Experience with leading complex research programs.Personality and mentality:
Excellent communicative, representative and interpersonal skills.
Innovative, creative and result driven.
Open and broad minded, liking to assess ideas of others (universities).
Well organized.
Highly intelligent and mature.
Coaching aspect is important: liking to spread his/her knowledge.
Languages: Fluent in English, both oral and in writing. |
