| Job Description: |
This leading Healthcare Organisation is seeking a Procurement Pharmacist for a permanent role based in Qatar.
In the role you will responsible for effective delivery of medicines procurement and distribution functions and procure medicines ensuring best value in purchasing, optimising stock holdings whilst ensuring maximum availability of medicines.
You will also manage the master catalogue file and procedures for the Procurement, Stores and Distribution elements of the Pharmacy Computer System.
Your main duties will include:
• Undertake the change management required to modernise the Procurement and Distribution services in pharmacy.
• manage the Procurement and Distribution services effectively to ensure that all orders and requisitions are processed accurately and efficiently to meet customer needs
• develop efficient Procurement and Distribution systems and procedures, and ensure in partnership with others, that they are used effectively by pharmacy and non pharmacy staff
• manage the sourcing and procurement of medicinal products in compliance with the Financial Instructions and the Policies of the Department to ensure a cost effective, safe and quality service
• manage the reconciliation of invoices against delivery documentation to authorise payment and resolve invoice errors and anomalies in an efficient manner to facilitate prompt payment
• review, monitor and maintain quality and performance standards and risk management strategies for the Medicine Procurement, Stores and Distribution functions
• Manage the development, maintenance and review of Standard Operating Procedures within the Procurement/Distribution section of the Department to ensure improvements in service quality and conform with the Quality Policy
• monitor and review customer complaints and non conformances to identify ways to improve the service delivery and minimise patient risk
• participate and review the training programme of all grades of staff in the Procurement/Distribution section to promote personal development and to ensure a motivated, skilled workforce
• liaise with Directorate Lead/Clinical Pharmacists regarding specific patient requirements and prescribing trends to anticipate future demands and appropriate stock levels and to provide information on pricing and stock availability
• Negotiate with suppliers to set up local contracts ensuring best price and maximising opportunities for savings
• liaise with Material Management Manager and other Procurement Managers to discuss and plan area store contracts to maximise opportunities for saving through commitment to volume
• work within agreed strategies for Medicines Procurement and contracting to ensure that the required medicines are available to the patient, at the time they are needed, and are of the required quality, whilst achieving best price
• develop and maintain positive working relationships and systems for effective communication within Procurement and Distribution and with other healthcare staff to facilitate efficient and effective services
• assess and review work processes to improve the standard of service within the Procurement/Distribution section and participate in forward planning by identification and implementation of service development
• Maintain the Pharmacy approved supplier list for pharmaceutical products and services and monitor the performance of suppliers to ensure a high quality, reliable service from suppliers
• manage the master catalogue file and procedures for the Procurement, Stores and Distribution elements of the pharmacy computer system
• create and maintain master catalogue and stock records of the pharmacy computer system to ensure the most up to date information with regard to prices and contracts are being utilised
• manage and review stock levels and reorder parameters to achieve maximum cost effectiveness and ensure that medicines are available when required
To apply for the role you will have a Pharmacy degree and should have an extensive knowledge of a hospital pharmacy environment.
