| Job Description: |
Under administrative supervision, the Platoon Sergeant (PSG) monitors and supervises a platoon of 35 to 45 cadets (ages 16 to 19) of the Oklahoma National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program, Thunderbird Youth Academy. PSG must maintain accountability of assigned platoon at all times; maintain discipline, security, and safety within a structured, military style atmosphere. Work with cadets to develope a team-oriented atmosphere within platoon. A PSG Is a mentor/role model for assigned cadets during the residential phase of the program. Conducts first line counseling and problem-solving for cadets and is the primary instructor in Drill and Ceremony and group living skills. Directs cadet physical training. Maintains supporting documentation and evaluations for assigned cadets. Works 40 hours per week as scheduled by supervisor. Positions are subject to shift rotation, evening, weekend, and holiday work. This job requires long periods of standing and walking indoors & outdoors in both high and low temperatures throughout the day. Performs additional tasks as required/assigned.
Benefits: This is a full-time, unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance for the employee and 75% paid health insurance for dependents. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.

| Skills Required: |
