A. Education: Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent documentation from a trade or military schools.
B. Experience: Minimum of five years professional experience in hydrographic/oceanographic work. Must have been Hydrographic Surveyorin-
charge for at least three years.
C. Language: Must have complete fluency in English.
D. Proficiency: Must have a sound theoretical understanding of surveying principals and the fundamentals of physical oceanography.
Duties and responsibilities
A. Directs the work of Hydrographic Surveyors. Plans and schedules the programs of hydrographic/oceanographic work carried out by the
surveyors.
B. Supervises the installation, operation, calibration and maintenance of hydrographic/oceanographic instruments.
C. Assists Unit Supervisor in determining the necessary instrumentation and spatial temporal parameters of sampling programs based on
proponents needs, environmental conditions at sampling sites and availability of appropriate equipment.
D. Conducts research on new instrumentation. Keeps abreast of developments in the Hydrographic field and advises on acquisition of new
equipment and modification to existing equipment and programs.
E. Monitors quality of field reports from survey vessels.
F. Correlates and updates "As Built" and onshore position control data. |
