Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Senior Engineer I
Plans and conducts independent work within a global business unit requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problems.
Working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines.
Understands the standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating, and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the application of engineering techniques. Normally uses conventional approaches to technical problems encountered. Provides technical direction and assigns work to engineers, designers, and drafters who assist on specific assignments.
The candidate will perform detailed design of AQCS and equipment:
Selective non-catalytic reduction for NOx control,
Selective catalytic reduction for NOx control,
Dry electrostatic precipitator,
Pulse-jet and reverse-air baghouses,
Dry flue gas desulfurization,
Wet flue gas desulfurization,
Wet electrostatic precipitator,
Mercury control systems,
SO3 control systems.
The position requires that the candidate have knowledge of engineering techniques, design of engineered systems, and design calculations including up-to-date knowledge of computer applications to engineering and design and engineering planning and control methods.
Responsibilities include preparing detailed technical specifications, performing detailed reviews of Customer specifications for AQCS and equipment, performing detailed technical bid evaluations of AQCS systems, identifying the impact to and by the AQCS and related auxiliary equipment design.
The candidate will also support preliminary designs and procurement activities of air quality control systems, including resolving air permit issues, identifying risks and mitigation plans, developing the air quality control system specifications, working with the Owner and suppliers to clarify the bids, and consulting on other projects with their emission control systems and air permit.
Basic Qualifications:
Six years experience related to air quality control systems (AQCS) and equipment (including conceptual design, equipment procurement, and equipment troubleshooting) required.
BSME or BSChE
Demonstrated working knowledge of AQCS systems and equipment and related systems and demonstrated performance of technical and economic studies and evaluations of various emission control technologies.
The candidate will need to have good working knowledge of applicable Codes and Standards and a broad knowledge of principles and practices of the power and construction industries.
Candidates responding to this posting must currently possess the eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Demonstrated communication skills, verbal as well as written.
Candidate must be willing to travel to domestic or international
Jobsites.
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered professional engineer.
Prior retrofit experience.
Experience with boiler suppliers or flue gas cleaning equipment
Suppliers.
Experience with CO2 emission issues and evolving captive and
Sequestration technologies.
Candidate has prepared design calculations for emission rates and reduction efficiency, studies of AQCS performance and duty cycles as result of fuel variations and resulting acid dew points and perform system process design calculations and evaluations.
Candidate has a thorough knowledge of treatment options for SO2, H2SO4, NOx, PM, PM10 (including condensables), Hazardous Air Pollutants (e.G., mercury, lead, beryllium, hydrochloric acid, fluorines). Experience should be related to plants with an output of at least 250 MWe.
Published papers concerning technical and/or economic studies on various emissions technology alternatives to determine the optimum technology is desired. Published papers on the investigations on technical issues related to emission control systems, such as emission reduction
Performance, chimney, and baghouse corrosion.
Experience with boiler suppliers or flue gas cleaning equipment
Suppliers.
