Approximate Hourly Wage: $30.19 - $33.29
El Dorado County is conducting this recruitment to fill one (1) extra-help vacancy for an Information Technology Analyst II (Operating Systems) for the Information Technology Department located in Placerville. Experience is highly desirable in the areas of installing and maintaining IBM operating system software including: z/OS 1.9, DB2, CICS, z/VM, Linux, DFSMShsm, Workload Mgr, SMP, RACF, and Model 204.
DUTIES: Typical duties for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Technical/planning, including:
Determining requirements, designing, building, testing, implementing, maintaining and enhancing information technology solutions; planning, developing and implementing backup and recovery procedures; determining proper installation parameters for software and hardware for smooth integration transition and efficiency; reading, interpreting and applying complex technical publications and documents; understanding highly complex information technology systems and issues.
Quality Assurance, including:
Developing and implementing comprehensive test plans to ensure that information technology components are tested and debugged; monitoring and collecting data on system performance; analyzing defects, identifying and correcting technical problems and deficiencies; recognizing problems, developing recommendations and solutions, overseeing correction within assigned specialty.
Team Effectiveness, including:
Working effectively, independently and following through on assignments; promoting and maintaining a team environment; communicating orally and in writing using the English language.
Customer Relations, including:
Assisting and training customers; installing the third party software modifies as necessary to meet specific customer requirements and installing vendor-supplied maintenance ca enhancements; working effectively with customers and senior managers.

| Skills Required: |
EITHER 1) Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems or a closely related field, AND: a) Three years experience working in the field of systems analysis, systems engineering, programming, database administration and/or analysis, operating systems, office systems, network analysis and/or management or a similar field in a multi platform information systems environment. One year of experience shall be in the option being tested. OR b) Two years experience equivalent to the County's class of Information Technology Analyst I. OR 2) Completion of a certificate program in Computer Science in the option being tested and four years experience working in the field of systems analysis, systems engineering, programming, database administration and/or analysis, operating systems, office systems, network analysis and/or management or a similar field in a multi platform information systems environment. One year of experience shall be in the option being tested.
NOTE: The above qualifications are typically accepted way of obtaining the required knowledge and skills.
May be required to work on-call, weekends and irregular hours. Applicants must pass a criminal history and background check which may include contact of prior employers and personal references, and fingerprinting for purposes of searching local, state and national fingerprint files through the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations to disclose any criminal record. |
