| Job Description: |
The Sierra Club Great Lakes Program is an entity of a national grassroots environmental organization. The Michigan Great Lakes Office is seeking interns for the upcoming term to assist with its ongoing campaign to protect and restore the Great Lakes.
Interns will learn about environmental issues and about working in a small, nonprofit advocacy office. Intern activities are expected to include:
•Research on current Great Lakes concerns
•Grassroots education – encouraging interested citizens to contact public officials
•Meeting, strategizing, and working with other environmental, community, and faith-based organizations
•Developing press releases and materials and working with media to increase coverage of priority Great Lakes issues
•Assisting with general office and clerical work as needed in the office
Internship is unpaid. Preference is for students to arrange for academic credit as compensation for their work. |
Skills Required:: |
Internships can be arranged for between 7 to 35 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Arrangements can be made for substantial work to be done outside of the office and normal business hours. Qualified applicants will have good writing and research skills, a knowledge or interest in environmental issues, and basic computer skills. |
