Vp _Engineering
Our client is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial VP Engineering to drive the technical strategy and execution of key security services. As a key member of a small team, you will have the unique opportunity to influence and shape the entire Our client strategy. You will have complete end-to-end technical responsibility for the component you own from defining the product roadmap to initiating, defining and executing the projects necessary to make the roadmap a reality. This is a highly visible role and it offers the opportunity to interact at all levels of the company that is ideal for someone who wants to have a big impact on this fast-growing, cutting-edge, business.
We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is also a team player with great cross-group collaboration skills.
Job Responsibilities
• The TPM will have overall technical ownership of Our client’s technology components.
• Work with Product manager as well as customers to understand the business requirements and translate the requirements into technical/functional specifications for the engineers. Should be able to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines. Balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
• Work with Our client engineering managers as well as other teams in Our client to coordinate the technical development effort, track/drive the project; manage the operational implementation process. Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management and make tradeoffs; encourage risk-taking behaviour to maximize business benefit; identify interdependencies between concurrent projects to prevent downstream problems.
• Gain consensus on technical decisions, and ensure that appropriate software engineering practices are employed to deliver high quality results.
• Work with the product managers to launch these projects and provide ongoing technical support as appropriate. Evangelize within and outside Our client to encourage a fast and smooth adoption of the services; be the primary conduit for gathering requirements for future enhancements; develop demos, sample and technical collateral as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, higher degree preferred. Computer science background highly desired.
• Solid foundation in service-oriented and web-service technologies to be able to understand service interdependencies and drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems.
• Experience in Web Services standards is a plus.
• A thorough understanding of software processes (development, configuration, testing, and deployment).
• Maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, leadership skills essential to successful program/project management.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.
• Proven results-oriented person with a focus on delivery. Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices & identify what truly matters.
• Prior experience as a Software Development Engineer or Technical Product Management with a record of successful delivery of large/complex software systems.
• Familiarity with internet security a big plus.
