Job Summary
An Investment Analyst undertakes research to provide ideas and information to CFO. The information they provide enables the CFO to make decisions relating to the investment. They must also develop expertise in interpreting that information and the implications for investment decisions. An analyst may have a set of companies to research and develop in-depth knowledge of, in order to make informed recommendations to CFO. Analyzes financial information to forecast business, industry, and economic conditions, for use in making investment decisions: Gathers and analyzes company financial statements, industry, regulatory and economic information, and financial periodicals and newspapers.
Duties And Responsibilities
„Ï Analyzing financial information relating to the companies they are researching, e.G. A new set of accounts, profit and loss and cash flow statements;
„Ï Conducting regular meetings with the management of the companies, sometimes at their premises, e.G. To discuss issues arising from the accounts;
„Ï Keeping up to date with market developments and all that can affect the markets,
„Ï Monitoring the financial news using specialist media sources;
„Ï Producing summaries of their research for fund managers, and meeting with them regularly;
„Ï Maintaining liaison with the management of companies and with fund managers, often by phone.
„Ï Draws charts and graphs to illustrate reports Recommends investment timing and buy-and-sell orders to company or to staff of investment establishment for advising clients
„Ï Call brokers and purchase investments for company, according to company policy. May recommend modifications to management's investment policy.
„Ï May specialize in specific investment area, such as bond, commodity, equity, currency, or portfolio management.
„Ï Summarizes data describing current and long term trends in investment risks and economic influences pertinent to investments.
„Ï Interprets data concerning price, yield, stability, and future trends of investments.
