| Job Description: |
The primary function of the Safety Specialist is to develop, implement and manage the Safety Program, policies and procedures of S\TEC. The Safety Specialist must work with the Clients to ensure client specific Safety Procedures are documented and known to all S/E and SDB employees. The Safety Specialist will work with the S\TEC, S/E and SDB management team to implement policy and procedures and train the employees accordingly.
Core Responsibilities:
• Write implement and update initiatives for the Safety program as required by regulatory guidelines or client related specifications.
• Monitor compliance with all applicable federal and state safety regulations and ensure necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
• Establish Safety training programs and conduct the training such as but not limited to:
o New Employee Training
o Employee Refresher Training
o Site Specific Required Training
Confined Space
Harness/man lift training
OSHA 10 Hour
• Serve as Chairperson of the Safety Committee
• Evaluate needed Safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment
• Maintain all company owned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Air Monitoring Systems and calibration compliance of devices
• Work with Northwest Indiana Round Table Association and North American Substance Abuse Program (NASAP) to maintain standards and complete regulatory testing.
• Complete Incident and Accident Investigation Reports as required.
Facility Responsibilities:
The Safety Specialist will also be responsible to manage several functions related to facility or building maintenance as it relates to S\TEC properties
• Schedule Regular Maintenance Events - Annual Floor Cleaning, windows dividers
• Schedule Seasonal work – Landscaping / snow removal
• Over see maintenance issues ie plumbing problems, HVAC problems
• Maintain Fire Alarm System
• Maintain overall maintenance of buildings
Skill Set Required:
AS degree in the Safety or related field with at least 5 years work experience
General skills required for this position:
• General knowledge of Industrial Safe Work Place Practices
• Certifications in some or all of the following:
o 1st Aid and CPR (current)
o Confined Spaces,
o Hazard Communication Program
o Harness Training
o OSHA 10 Hour Certification
• Ability to Train employees as well as author training materials as applicable to S\E and SDB needs.
• Industrial Hygiene Skills
• Accident Investigation Skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
• Excellent organizational Skills
