Introduction to Shijiazhuang
With a population that varies between two and eight million people (depending on who you ask) Shijiazhuang is, like other Chinese cities, rapidly developing anddesperately trying to compete with the economic and cultural might of Beijing. Indeed any geographical description of where Shijiazhuang is necessarily refers to Beijing. Shijiazhaung is about 200km south east, or two hours on the train. As the capital of Hebei province Shijiazhuang has much more to offer than most guidebooks will freely admit! Moreover as one of the major railway hubs it offers a useful base for those who wish to explore china cheaply. If you wish to spend a little more, then flights areavailable to all major cities in the country from the local airport.
Our School:
EF Shijiazhuang (EFSJZ) is located in the city of Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei province that surrounds Beijing. The school was established in April 2002 and has been growing ever since, it currently employs eleven foreign and Chinese teachers and sixteen Chinese administration staff (who speak excellent English!) The foreign teachers come from all over the world, and many of the teachers like it so much that they stay for a second sometimes even third year. In fact EF Shijiazhuang has one of the highest retention rates for teachers in China ¨C a fact we are very proud of! We often refer to the school staff as a family, while this may be a clich¨¦, it is a genuine feeling held by all the school staff. The school itself has quickly gained a reputation within and without EF for being one of the top EF schools in China. EFSJZ offers courses for students of all ages and all abilities, from four to six year olds, seven to ten year olds, eleven to fourteen year olds and fifteen to adults. Courses include General English, Business English and one to one tuition.
All students are given a personal placement test by one of our foreign teachers, to assess prospective students¡¯ English ability and then course consultants help the students choose the right course for them. We pride ourselves on offering a professional, supportive, friendly service to our customers and students.
Requirements on ESL teachers:
-Native English speaker (from U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand)
- Bachelor degree or above
- TESOL / TEFL / CELTA certification preferred
- Prior teaching experience preferred
