Job Description: Our client, an oil exploration and production company, is urgently seeking experienced and talented Directional Drillers whom are educated to Degree level or equivalent With Relevant Experience to execute and manage all phases of a directional drilling job.

Must be reliable, hard working and sensitive to other cultures. Experience working in other countries would be seen as a positive.

Job Description:

* Performing directional drilling operations at the well site
* Executing and managing all phases of a directional drilling job; delivering quality service and meeting the client`s expectations and standards.


Responsibilities:

* Providing advice for well planning.
* Providing advice for bit selection and BHA composition.
* Liaising with customer representatives to ensure smooth operation and understanding of requirements.
* Pre and Post job briefing and reporting as required.
* Monitoring effective use of down hole and surface equipment to fully optimize the use of all equipment, in response to hole conditions and in accordance with well proposal to enhance overall job efficiency.
* Providing performance drilling services and all associated defined deliverables, as required by local operations.
* Achieving competence in the relevant assigned skills for service deliverables for Directional Drilling, as defined within the Field Employee Development Program (Grade schematic) and the associated LearnLink Competency Framework.
* Interpreting the information provided by the MWD field operator and use the information to induce the required angle in the hole in order to hit the specified target.
* Managing directional drilling tools at the well site.
* Drilling deviated and straight hole sections, make corrections, and assist client in solving problems.
* Isolating location of field failures and assisting in analysis of tool failure.
* Informing client of unusual conditions during job; taking action to ensure service is maintained; documenting and reporting field failures and recommending action to prevent recurrence.
* Designing well plans prior to job, re-planning wells, and modifying well plans as needed; running anti-collision at rig site.
* Ensuring assigned junior personnel are trained on all aspects of Directional Drilling job responsibilities.


Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in Engineering or industry-related Engineering disciplines, or a minimum of 3 years industry experience in a drilling-related discipline.
* Must demonstrate the skill requirements for Directional Driller I and must complete all assigned training requirements for this Grade as defined within the Field Employee Development Program and the associated LearnLink Competency Framework.
* Must have Vertical and Rotary Steerable experience; Deepwater drilling experience a plus.

* Successfully complete required safety training (including but not limited to drugs and alcohol, electrical, emergency response, fire, first aid, health and hygiene, PPE, SIPP, risk reporting, IT security, hazardous materials, driving).

* Onshore: 5+ years of experience in the O&G industry with a minimum of 3 years as a Directional Driller.
* Offshore: 6+ years of drilling experience with a minimum of 3 years of offshore; Deepwater experience is a premium.
* Experience with well planning programs a must.


Professional Experience:

* Must have 6 or more years in relevant experience in an Oil and Gas environment.
* Supervisory experience is preferred.
* Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests.


Other duties may involve the following but are not limited to:

* keeping records of work performed.
* Reading blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

* Ensure that all reporting routines are followed and that all equipment related paperwork are carried out within your area of responsibility, such as maintenance records, updating of service and instruction manuals, instructing procedures, etc.
* Being familiar with all classification society and authorities rules and regulations applicable to your area of responsibility.
* Being safety conscious and using compulsory protective equipment.
* Participating on the emergency response team as necessary.

* Providing technical experience to employees and management.
* Ensuring familiarity with all applicable work and safety procedures, and promoting implementation of same.
* Promptly reporting all accidents, near-miss accidents, non-conformance and safety hazards to your immediate superior.
* Ensuring good housekeeping in your working areas.
* You must deliver exceptional safety and service quality.
* You must have good knowledge of spoken & written English


Working Conditions:

* Working 12-hour shifts and being on call 24 hours per day while not on duty.
* Maintain at all times, an active role in HSE compliance.
* Working in air-conditioned office, outside, workshop, and at offshore or land rig with:
* Frequent exposure to rig noise, caustic mud and chemicals used in drilling operations, movement of machine parts, and using tools with radioactive components.
* Occasional exposure to extreme heat and/ or cold (depending on location assignment), outdoor work, handling of electrical equipment, working with explosive material, and working near a radiation source.
* Traveling to rigs by car, truck, helicopter, and/ or boat and remaining at well-site for completion of job.
* May include domestic & international work locations.


Physical Capabilities:

* Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds; infrequently lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
* Ability to infrequently push and pull up to 110 pounds.
* Ability to frequently sit; occasionally stand, walk, handle, finger, use eye-hand coordination, and use foot control; infrequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, feel, use eye/ hand/ foot coordination, and twist upper body.
* Ability to use senses of smell, hearing, and touch.
* Ability to demonstrate near and far acuity and depth perception; ability to define color preferred.


Other Qualifications:

* Ability to obtain a work visa for other countries
* Ability to think and reason, solve problems, work with speed and accuracy, use correct grammar, read with speed and comprehension, apply mechanical reasoning, use three-dimensional skills, and work in word processing, spreadsheet/ database programs, and specialized Company software programs.
* Ability to work well with others.
* Comply with applicable company policies, including Personnel, Quality System and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures.
* Basic engineering, Electrical, electronic, and mechanical skills.
* Valid driver’s license and passport.
* Solid organizational skills.
* Ability to clearly communicate in English: including reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
* Ability to read and interpret diagrams/ schematic diagrams, manuals/ operating manuals and write business letters and statistical and technical reports.
* Ability to apply basic arithmetic operations, practical algebra or geometry, fractions, percentages, and ratios; compute ratios, rates, and percentages; and understand angles and their properties.
* Self-motivating and independent.
* Willing to take on responsibility and be accountable for your actions.
