Job Description: Scope and Purposes: Integrates data gathering and analysis to support planning and decision-making across all sectors of the University. Maintains current knowledge of planning and evaluation methods and serves as a resources for all sectors of the University.


A. Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
• Gathers and analyzes data from all sectors of the University (including academic affairs, language schools, finances, student affairs, admissions and financial aid, and college advancement) to support institutional planning and decision-making.
• Establishes and maintains integrated working relationships with other Universities departments to develop and disseminate shared databases.
• Responds to information requests from the President, Vice Presidents and other members of the senior administration.
• Compiles and publishes longitudinal and comparative data about Middlebury College.
• Coordinates and supports University-wide planning on student learning outcomes. Investigates and keeps up-to-date on best practices, including tools such as surveys and research instruments. Serves as a resource for the University on assessment issues. Assists both academic and non-academic departments in the conduct of self-assessment reviews and prepares materials for reviews by external visiting committees.
• Maintains database of strategic goals and data to support those goals – researches and monitors data use in evaluation of University-wide planning efforts.
• Coordinates the submission of data to publishers of University guidebooks and serves as a resource for the administration on policy issues associated with the collection and presentation of data in such publications.
• Conducts survey research, using both survey instruments developed elsewhere (surveys) and locally-designed surveys, in order to gather information needed to support decision-making. Serves as a consultant to the development and implementation of departmental surveys. When requested by senior administration, serves as an advisor to local outside organization on survey design and implementation.
• Suggests to administration and departments ways in which survey research can be used as part of the decision-making process.

Skills Required::
Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in institutional research, statistics, or related fields


Experience:

•Ten Years of experience in collecting and analyzing data in higher education environment, with demonstrated success in writing and presentation skills.
• ompetence in use of SPSS, Database system, basic programming and extracting data from higher education administrative systems( Sungard Banner experience preferred)


Skills:

• lans and conduct workshops and other faculty development programs.
• nforms the campus community about important developments in assessment on campus and throughout higher education.
• Ability to conduct long range planning and design relative to institutional effectiveness and evaluation concepts.
• Promote educational innovation and improvement.
• Organize and prioritize and coordinate the work of others, supervise assigned staff.
