Under the general supervision of the Client Center`s Director of Nursing, this position provides the administrative direction and control of the Nursing Department services;
- Coordinates and carries out assigned projects to effectively support the facility`s immediate and long-range objectives; and jointly, with the Administrator and interdisciplinary department directors, carries out the philosophy and general objectives of the facility.
- Develops and maintains, for each level of nursing personnel, the nursing services philosophy and objectives for the facility; the standards of practice; the policies and procedures manuals and job descriptions for all employees of the nursing staff in the facility.
- Recommends to the Client Center`s Director of Nursing and administrator of the facility, the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed.
- Manages nursing personnel, including recruitment, selection, position assignment, orientation, in-service education, supervision, evaluation and termination.
- Develops the written staffing plan. Participates with other professional staff in developing and implementing policies for resident care.
- In collaboration with related disciplines, assures that each resident¿s interdisciplinary plan of care, including discharge planning is maintained. Coordinates nursing care with other resident care; participates in daily rounds to all residents.
- Monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.
- In collaboration with Center management, develops departmental budget and monitors and ensures departmental adherence.
- Establishes and maintains therapeutic relations with residents, families, visitors and staff.
- Assures adherence to all regulatory guidelines (Human Resources, JCAHO, etc.). Implements Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs for the department and staff. |
Skills Required:: |
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
Current GA license as an RN.
Six years of nursing experience with at least two years as a Director or Assistant Director of Nursing in a long-term care nursing facility.
