| Job Description: |
You will be responsible for:
· Providing first-class UNIX system support;
· Working quickly and effectively to resolve or escalate production issues at the fist sign of detection using agreed processes;
· Acting as a single point of contact for escalated issues to Hong Kong and Sydney to resolve more complex issues;
· Maintaining good relationships with the ITG Account Teams and business users;
· Execution of change requests;
· Implementation of regular monthly patches to the operating system;
· Leading and co-ordinating UNIX Administration team activities;
· Planning of shift rosters;
· Workload planning and assisting with determination of staffing requirements.

Skills Required:: |
The following characteristics would be considered essential:
· University degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent;
· An ability to undertake shifted work patterns to cover a 24x7 environment;
· Be a strong, dynamic character, capable dealing effectively with colleagues and business users working in a constantly evolving environment;
· Prepared to participate hands-on in the adds, moves and changes of the UNIX infrastructure and associated hardware;
· ability to work as part of a regional team across multiple countries, cultures and time-zones;
· be able to remain calm under pressure and when faced with adversity or urgent issues;
· customer-focused with a “service first” mentality and best-in-class communication skills;
· be able to view currently processes and procedures as opportunities for enhancement, tuning and improvement.
Minimum required experience:
· Minimum of 5 years continuous, recent experience working with a Sun Solaris UNIX platform
· Leadership of a similar team
· Currently operating in a similar role within a banking or financial institution
· Troubleshooting and resolution of production problems and issues
· Scripting, in Perl and Shell
· Naming services – NIS, DNS, LDAP, QIP
· Experience with Solaris directory and file systems
· Change Management processes
Experience in the following areas would be considered very advantageous:
· Remedy trouble-ticketing system
· BMC Patrol
· Veritas Clustering and replication products
· Disaster Recovery implementation and execution
· Legato Networker backup solution
· EMC Storage systems management
· ITIL practices
