Tax Compliance Manager
Base 160k – 170k plus bonus.
Manager will facilitate the reporting requirements and daily internal and external request as outlined by the Tax Compliance Director.
Initiate and monitor the completion of the actual and projected reporting packages.
Communication and review of workflow to the Tax Compliance Director to ensure timely deliverables.
Understand the reporting requirements of the portfolio, address compliance issues in accordance with federal, state, and local jurisdictions, communicate tax positions or resolutions to the Tax Compliance Director.
Communicate, respond, and assist the accounting department with all aspects of the portfolio from a tax perspective.
Review the tax treatment and accounting of various real estate acquisitions, dispositions, recapitalization, and lease transactions.
Monitor and maintain timeliness of projected tax based reporting packages by financial department.
Review income tax projections prepared by external advisors.
Review year end reporting packages prepared by financial department.
Review federal, state, and local income tax returns [partnership, REIT, corporate] prepared by external advisors on a portfolio wide basis.
Prepare/Review in house federal, state, and local income tax returns [partnership, corporate].
Prepare/Review estimated tax payments, sales and use tax returns, commercial rent tax returns, etc.
Provide the financial department adequate assistance with the proper depreciation methods required for federal, state and local tax purposes.
Assist the financial department on the proper use of the fixed asset depreciation software
Coordinate and assist the Tax Compliance Director when advising the financial department with relevant technical concepts and changes in law.
Prepare/Review foreign and state withholding requirements as well as 1099’s on a portfolio wide basis.
Assist the Tax Compliance Director with issues raised and specific requests from significant investors.
Prepare responses to federal, state, and local notices.
Compile, maintain and organize investor information.
Communication Skills:
Regularly communicate with the Tax Compliance Director the progression of all outstanding issues, filings, and deliverables, internally and externally.
Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Communicate updates and setbacks of any and all projects to the Tax Compliance Director.
Meet and discuss with the appropriate personnel of the financial department to ensure timely and accurate information is provided for requisite tax filings.

Technical Skills:
Strong technical background in partnership and real estate taxation.
Big Four Experience is a plus.
At least one full year as Manager; min of five years of total experience.
Familiar with REIT compliance.
Exposure to international taxation and reporting requirements preferred.
