| Job Description: |
Cognos Systems Manager will be responsible for maintenance, support, operation and evolution of our Cognos 8 BI solution. This position will also interact with internal and external DBA and Data Warehouse staff and analysts to develop and implement solutions and issue resolutions, and automate and mature processes to ensure and improve data quality. The Systems Manager will coordinate and schedule analytic jobs between back and front office systems, run production, development, testing and training environments, synchronize data and reporting requirements with system security, application authentication and data modeling standards, perform business and system analysis as needed to refine requirements for Cognos development and implementation, and evaluate new functionality and tools to augment our current Cognos offering. Finally, the Systems Manager will employ project management skills and tools when developing and facilitating analytic development and architecture upgrades or improvements. |
Skills Required:: |
In-depth knowledge and three to five years hands-on experience with Cognos BI, 8 preferred, Framework Manager, and the reporting tool suite (i.e. Report Studio, Query Studio, Analysis Studio and Metric Manager);
•At least two years experience managing business intelligence and/or data warehouse environments;
Strong knowledge and understanding of relational and dimensional data models;
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Access, Outlook, Word and Excel.
Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaborative skills;
Demonstrated proficiency with structured query language (SQL);
Experience with MS SQL Server;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver presentations;
Experience in business requirements gathering;
Candidate should have an understanding of financial and business principles.
Experience with the following tools is preferred but not required:
o Peoplesoft Financials and Human Resources,
o IDX Billing and Scheduling,
o Sorian Financials, Scheduling and Billing,
o MS Project and PowerPoint
