| Job Description: |
Installs and terminates telephone cabling including multi-connect telephone twisted pair and other voice grade cabling systems.
Installs and terminates data communication cabling including fiber optics and unshielded twisted pair.
Tests and trouble shoots problems with structure cabling systems.
Attends plan review meetings to review structured cabling requirements for construction projects.
Responsible for working with Facilities Planning and Institutional Services Safety and Environmental department on all jobs.
Assists in the development of specifications for structured cabling systems.
Work with Telecom and networking for design of systems.
Responsible for the maintenance of assigned vehicle.
Responsible for the design layouts needed for permitting required by the Florida Building Code.
Maintains record of time and material used on a job.
Prepares reports related to job duties, time, materials, et cetera.
Performs related duties as required.

Skills Required:: |
Ability to perform diagnostic trouble shooting and analysis. Ability to operate a computer. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post-qualification physical examination. BICSI Certified Level 1 or greater – preferred. Knowledge of terminating structured cabling systems. Knowledge of building codes. Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment. Knowledge of the equipment and tools used in structured cabling. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in reading comprehension. |
