Job overview:
The AIX Administrator is responsible for managing, monitoring and supporting the FNC Digital Newsroom infrastructure which involves but is not limited to: IBM AIX servers, Linux based servers, and all other windows based systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Installation, maintenance and administrator of AIX
· Work with application development teams integrating application code through various environments of the development lifecycle.
· Work with operations group to establish and improve processes and procedures related to the UNIX infrastructure
· Manages the deployment of appropriate security patches, hot fixes, and software updates
· Monitors performance and tunes the servers for best performance
· Work with the application and project teams to formulate requirements.
· Provide on-call production support on a large 24x7 operation.
· Perform root cause analysis
· Manage performance/capacity
· Analyze Problems and situations
· Implement System HW/SW components
· Use System Analysis Tools
· Perform system performance tuning
· Implement and manage AIX system security
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; and a minimum of 5 year’s administration/ management in a large scale Unix environment, specifically IBM/AIX
· Experience with IBM’s LPAR, HACMP, NIM and logical volume manager technologies
· Experience working with the configuration and administration of AIX on a pSeriers server.
· Candidates must have experience in at least three of the following areas: AIX, Storage Area Networks, Shell scripting, logical partitioning.
· Experience with DB2 UDB on an AIX system is an asset
· Good understanding of AIX, storage architecture, and network
· Attention to detail
· UNIX scripting
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· A working knowledge of DB2 architecture and related utilities and AIX platform

This position has multiple responsibilities involving the Ad Sales System (Broadway) and all of the business processes related to it.
