A US based, international design firm is looking for an energetic and self-motivated project manager/designer interested in relocating to Shanghai, to assist in the operation of a design office, engaged in museum exhibition design.
The ideal candidate will be collaborative, adventurous, easily adapt to new and unfamiliar situations, take the initiative in identifying and solving problems, have good people skills, communicate thoughtfully and clearly, be even-tempered, and up for a good for a challenge.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Design Project Manager directs and manages a team of Shanghai based designers and content developers in the production of design document packages and presentations, providing design direction, technical guidance and team building.
Basic responsibilities include:
• Work collaboratively with the Design Director and design staff from US based offices in developing and executing a working process for competitive Tenders and contracted projects.
• Coordinate work between Shanghai and US based offices.
• Attend design worksessions and make presentations to client.
• Institute best practices and maintain quality control over work products generated.
Daily duties include:
• Work out of Shanghai office.
• Manage workflow and staff assignments.
• Review and comment on work products for design intent, accuracy, and technical correctness.
• Develop and implement design office processes and protocols.
• Improve staff proficiency in using various software packages and producing design document packages.
• Maintain communications with US based staff.

Skills Required:: |
Skills and Experience
Ideal candidate will have a BFA degree or an architectural degree, experience working in museum exhibitions, themed/cultural attractions, or architectural projects. The Design Project Manager shall have a working understanding of the entire process of designing and producing exhibits. The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate with staff in Mandarin.
Basic skills and experience include:
• Experience with Exhibit and/or Architectural Design
• A thorough understanding of AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suites, and Filemaker Pro software.
• Preferable if familiar with A/V production process, techniques, and hardware.
