Position summary:
The secondary teacher is responsible for the education of the assigned students within the assigned courses. It is the teachers’ primary responsibility to provide academic and spiritual direction and leadership to the students by carefully following the prescribed curriculum, policy, procedures and expectations for Christian excellence.
Serves alongside:
Dominican and North American teachers, support staff.
Examples of roles and responsibilities:
• Plan and coordinate each student’s and the class’s education.
• Carefully monitor each child’s academic progress.
• Provide a structured, disciplined classroom environment.
• Foster open communication with parents
• Openly incorporate the Bible and its teaching into all areas of the curriculum
• Work along with others in planning and preparing for events and activities.
• Serve on improvement teams
• Adhere to all school polices as outlined in the employee manual.
• Manage student behavior to maximize learning.
• Remain current in educational practices by participating in staff training and other seminars.
• Other assignments fitting with the position of secondary teacher.

Skills Required:: |
Education requirements:
-A minimum of a bachelors degree from an accredited college with a major or minor in their content area and secondary education;
-hold or be eligible for a teaching license/credential from a state teacher licensing agency.
Preferred experience:
-One or more years of teaching experience
-Graduate work in education
Other requirements:
1. Personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. A sound understanding of the Bible, good Christian character and strong witness.
3. A sound philosophy of Christian Education.
4. A broad understanding of the nature of society, and the ability to understand the unique challenges in living and ministering in a cross-cultural setting.
5. A thorough understanding of children and young people.
6. A thorough understanding of the teaching-learning process.
