CB&I Lummus has a unique opportunity for a professional engineer to join the company as a Senior Material Specialist Engineer, based in the Netherlands.
Job Description
As a Senior Material Specialist Engineer you will be working in the Metallurgical and Welding section of the Process Technology department within CB&I Lummus. Your main tasks will be to:
- Develop a material selection report for petrochemical, chemical plants, refineries and offshore production platforms. The material selection involves equipment such as furnaces, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, aircoolers, pumps, compressors and their interconnected piping. The report shall be based on the process conditions of the plant and shall discuss all the applicable potential material degradation mechanisms for the process plant materials such as corrosion, erosion, material embrittlement etc. The report shall also include where applicable, the corrosion allowance, internal coating selection, corrosion monitoring requirements, the use of corrosion inhibitors, etc.
- Determine the essential fabrication requirements for the selected materials, which include welding requirements, heat treatment requirements, corrosion testing requirements and non destructive testing requirements.
- Review the equipment requisitions, seller drawings and bids for the proper implementation of the material requirements. Reviewing inspection plans for equipment with special material requirements.
- Develop corrosion prevention reports and RBI assessment reports
- Execute a condition assessment or a Plant Life Expectancy Report for existing process plants

Job Requirements
- You have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in a relevant discipline, such as Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- You have at least 5 years experience performing the tasks as described in the job description above, e.g. as a Materials Specialist, Metallurgy Engineer or a Materials, Corrosion & Welding Engineer.
- You have gained your experience with a world-class engineering consulting company or an operating company, either in the oil & gas industry, petrochemical industry or chemical industry.
- You have experience working on a project-basis, preferably in an international environment.
- You have proven to be able to work in a team of people with different background and roles. International managerial experience is a plus.
- You are able to express yourself clearly in the English language, both in writing and speech.
- You have shown to have strong analytical skills to solve complex problems and you know how to organize your work effectively to achieve good results.
- You have proven to be creative, precise and innovative in finding solutions to (technical) problems. You like to share and discuss problems with other people.
- You can provide a letter of reference testifying to your performance from a past or current employer.
