Job Description:
With minimal supervision responsible for the design, implementation and support of storage infrastructures for the corporate campus and field locations. Provides technical thought leadership for storage systems and is accountable to define, maintain, communicate, and implement standards consistent with established architecture and strategy.
Responsible for the provisioning of complex storage environments. Additionally, responsible for the update of management information systems, including asset management, time tracking and other systems. This position is also required to mentor junior level engineers as well as provide second level support for complex issues, problems or projects.
9+ years progressive storage platform experience
Demonstrated expertise in the design, implementation and support of complex storage infrastructures.
Expert understanding of data communication protocols focusing on TCP/IP.
Strong understanding of storage platforms in a corporate infrastructure.
Strong understanding of storage security practices and tools.
In depth experience with hardware and software based storage monitoring tools.
Bachelors Degree in a related technical field, or similar discipline.
Good written and verbal communications skills.
Demonstrated experience working with telecommunications companies.
Demonstrated competency in the use of project management tools and methodologies.
Ability to manage concurrent projects to plan.
Must have experience functioning as a lead on projects.
Demonstrated ability to execute and perform timely follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction
Ability to instill quality in every aspect of the job function.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for working with the different business units to develop the engineering design to support the business and operational requirements for either new systems or enhancements to existing systems. Interacts in a professional manor during the project engagement and proactively utilizes knowledge of the business unit and objectives to maximize the efficiency of the design.
2. Responsible for the engineering design to meet the business and operational objectives for business continuity solutions.
3. Responsible for defining standard engineering designs, templates, processes, and procedures for implementing projects that follow existing TransUnion architectures for large complex projects.
4. Responsible for defining new engineering designs, templates, processes and procedures for implementing projects that require new architecture patterns.
5. Provides subject matter expertise to maintain the appropriate lifecycle for the technologies in scope including technology risk, refresh, migration and retirement.
6. Provides quality assurance for engineering designs of junior team members
7. Analyzes system performance, modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources. Monitors resource usage, making required adjustments.
8. With administrative direction, leads the evaluation and selection of tools. Sets up product demos, and objectively evaluates tools. Coordinates the collection of feedback from other evaluators. Summarizes the input, makes cost conscience tool recommendations. Writes up the body of the AFE. May be responsible for the effective deployment of tools in the group. Sets up training classes and may function as a tool administrator, working with the vendor, internally coordinating product upgrades and fixes. Oversees or performs the installation and testing of upgrades working with the systems and applications teams.
9. Participates in on-call production support activities. Is expected to have the technical knowledge and capability to handle all problems that may arise. Proactively puts procedures in place to prevent and reduce the severity of outages.
10. Responsible for developing the organization by mentoring junior engineers and developing `how to` guides. Works directly with the manager to identify key areas for improvement to align to the larger TechOps objectives.
11. Responsible for accurately estimating and planning activities within the domain to provide the necessary input into the project managers for developing an end to end plan. Able to plan and manage small projects with the domain.
12. Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships with internal and external strategic partners as well as critical IT infrastructure service providers.
13. Coordinates activities with vendors as required.
14. Complies with all USIT policies, standards and procedures.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
