Job Description:
Our International client are looking for an experiences Highways Design Manager to be part of a top tier of technical experts in the Highways function group, capable of increasing the technical profile of the business, as well as being seen as work winners of high value services.
The highways design manager will ensure that all major projects are properly managed, from a technical and commercial perspective through the direction of teams of engineering and CAD staff to minimise risk to the company and to maximise the commercial result.
The main responsibilities of this role are;
§Responsible for leading the technical delivery processes, around the region, to an appropriate quality;
§Ensuring that appropriate technical controls are in place for their specific area of technical expertise;
§Primarily technical advice and high level design review services to Function / Sector Leaders, Project Managers and Directors;
§Act as project manager for major projects or bids including technical review of bids;
§To act as Senior Project Representative, where a client needs to have the confidence of a very experienced technical person;
§Ensuring that the abilities of staff are matched to the requirements of the projects;
§Championing the Company System in support of the Technical Function Head as identified in the Company System;
§Providing professional and technical input on selected projects and taking active role in technical reviews and audits of major projects;
§Training, mentoring and coaching staff.
Selection Criteria:
§Minimum of 10 years post graduate experience in highways design
§Degree Qualified and Chartered Engineer.
§Experience in managing a design team and working in a multidisciplinary environment
§Sound knowledge of highways design and documentation
§Experience working on large scale highways design schemes
§Good written and oral communication skills
§Strong client facing skills and experience. Ability to gain client confidence and trust, through strong technical communication.
