| Job Description: |
Summary This position is an opportunity for an IT student attending a college or university or beginning IT professional. The duties will include supporting end users around software and hardware problems of computer users as well as basic website maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
1. Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies.
2. Interviews user to collect information about problem and leads user through diagnostic procedures to determine source of error.
3. Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for routine user problems, referring more complex problems to supervisor or technical staff.
4. Logs and tracks calls using problem management database, and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
5. Prepares standard statistical reports, such as help desk incident reports.
6. Analyzes and evaluates incident reports and makes recommendations to reduce help line incident rate.
7. Consults with programmers to explain software errors or to recommend changes to programs.
8. Calls and researches software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products.
9. Assist in testing software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing work.
10. Assist with writing or revising user training manuals and procedures.
11. Assist with developing training materials such as exercises and visual displays.
12. Assists with training users on software and hardware on-site or in classroom, or recommends outside contractors to provide training.
13. Installs personal computers, software, and peripheral equipment.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Completion of a related degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems of an Associate`s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or substantial completion of an AA or other related degree requiring an internship program; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Web Design Development software; advanced Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and advanced Microsoft Word Word Processing software.

Exchange 2003
Software development, OO languages, HTML, JavaScript or other internet technologies, XML, TSQL or other database technologies
