| Job Description: |
This leading Medical Facility is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Advisor for a permanent role based in Qatar.
In this role your duties will include:
• Understand and work to implement the Organisation’s mission without bias toward or against any external entity
• Gain an understanding of Organisation’s short-and longer-term planning needs in the medical realm from staff and other independent review and work to acquire and present the necessary information to facilitate decision-making
• Build and maintain best possible relationships with stakeholders internal to the Organisation and the State of Qatar, as well as external stakeholders and also external advisors who may not have a long-term stake in the Organisation
• Function with expertise and sensitivity, building productive relationships across all relevant medical fields, including physician, nursing, and allied health; research, clinical and basic; public health and health policy; as well as with institutions currently involved with these activities,
• Oversee and help coordinate the work of other local and external medical advisors
• Report to the Executive Planning Director
The ideal candidate will be a practicing physician with extensive experience within an academic health sciences centre, one who has some prominence in the field and who has been involved in the interface of medical practice – hospital care – medical education – research.
Qualifications of the Senior Medical Advisor
•Licensed physician with U.S. board certification or its equivalent in a pertinent medical specialty and extensive hospital-based experience interfacing with other specialties
•Demonstration of international renown as reflected by memberships on editorial boards or other international journal leadership, invitations to speak at international meetings, peer-reviewed publications in important journals with international circulations.
•Respected clinical expertise as reflected by recommendations
•Experience of successful collaboration in hospital or hospital-planning endeavours in Arabic-speaking countries is desirable
•Credibility as a researcher in the scientific aspects of a field of medicine (not merely medical education) as reflected by a record of peer-reviewed publications (not merely case reports) is desirable
•Demonstrated ability to function well with a multi-disciplinary team
•Demonstrated better than average capacity to manage projects and problem-solving as well as writing and presenting before both medically-sophisticated and medical un-sophisticated audiences
The length of the contract will be from November 2009 through the summer of 2012 and the commissioning of a new hospital.
