| Job Description: |
The maintenance instructor will be responsible for teaching adult education classes and workshops in a social service setting offered at Wildcat Services Corporation in Manhattan (Bronx workshops in development). The instructor will conduct training sessions on the fundamentals of building maintenance and custodial/janitorial functions. The instructor will focus on training transitional workers both in a classroom setting and using hands-on instruction. Instruction topics will include curriculum developed from the Custodial Management Institute (CMI) which includes equipment/tool identification and usage, chemistry of cleaning, surface and carpet cleaning and advanced cleaning techniques.
The instructor is expected to take the participants through the fundamentals of the program and cover essential subject material. Following the completion of the training, students should be able to practically demonstrate skills gained in training and are required to take and pass a certification test leading to certification in the Custodial Maintenance field.
In preparation to deliver the training, the instructor will be responsible for updating and adapting existing lesson and courses material to suit the needs of the participants. Duties involve, but are not limited to, training assessments, testing, completion of related documentation and reports; maintaining on-going student contact; and participation in staff and professional development activities.
Instructors are required to manage the classroom in a safe and professional manner.
