Mandatory Skills:
• Jobholder uses specialist experience, in a complex IT environment, to recognise when technical development can offer a business opportunity.
• Must have 3-5 years experience of working in an IT project environment and an understanding of IT/business strategies. Previous work as a Database Administrator would be advantageous.
• Experience gained from outside the Bank can be extremely valuable, particularly large organisations, suppliers or manufacturers.
• Highly proficient in IT tools, techniques and services relevant to their knowledge area and has a broad awareness of those used throughout other areas, and maintains a key interest in emerging developments in the marketplace. Database Management Systems knowledge must include core skills e.g. DB2, Oracle, IMS, UDB, DB2 Connect, SQL Server, DB2 Connect, Ingres ( Oracle and Ingres not mandatory for the mainframe)
• Demonstrates effective communication, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, clients and customers – including the production of major reports, preparing and delivering presentations, and taking a leading role in meetings and discussions.
• Able to plan, schedule and monitor own work, requiring minimal reference and supervision.
Role & Responsibilities:
• Ensures that recommended Database Management Systems are fully compliant with IT and Security policies, escalating dispensations where appropriate.
• Works with Project Designers to provide cost effective and functional database solutions, in-line with business and technical requirements.
• Provides input to the evaluation and selection of Database package solutions.
• Produces end-to-end Database Designs, with associated costs and timescales, in response to Bid/Planning and Portfolio demand.
• Undertakes specific technical specialist assignments to support portfolio demand.
• Uses appropriate processes and software tools to design, build, test and implement database systems or services, on a technical infrastructure, to support Business demands, and to agreed service levels.
• Uses database administration procedures and standards, shares technical nowledge/best practice, and resolves issues in the existing and emerging systems development processes.
• Supports Application Development build and test to optimise database efficiency and performance.
• Creates database housekeeping schedule to ensure the integrity and recoverability of business system information.
• Provides implementation and warranty support for Business Change, in-line with Live Support and Project requirements.
• Support ISS in the monitoring of the infrastructure operational environment or service performance, improving levels of service by pre-empting incidents and initiating improvement activities.
• Provides Database processing requirements to the capacity planning process, ensuring that future demand is factored into Operational Systems capacity and configuration.
This position is on 6 months contract further renewable to 1year and further convertible to permanent completely based on performance. Overseas candidates are welcome to apply regardless of VISA status. |
