| Job Description: |
Role & Responsibilities:
• Support the work of members of the management team as appropriate
• Provide the governance, technical authority, leadership and direction necessary for the resolution of technical issues.
• Manage IT work and takes responsibility for completing tasks, focusing on requirements and planning to meet client needs, whilst monitoring and reporting progress to plan
• Supervise, co-ordinate, participate in and be accountable for the work of the team.
• Installation and deployment of new software and upgrades
• System maintenance
• Carrying out system changes
• Supplier management of internal and external infrastructure
• Managing and delivering infrastructure improvements
• Implement standard customer solutions
• Performance management
• Understand the potential and limitations of infrastructure technology and exploit opportunities accordingly.
• Management of incidents
• 3rd Level Problem management involving liaising with software vendors
• 24x7 operational support (on-call)
• Disaster recovery
• Coach / mentor junior colleagues within the team
This position is on 6 months contract further renewable to 1year and further convertible to permanent completely based on performance. Overseas candidates are welcome to apply regardless of VISA status.

Skills Required:: |
Essential:
• In depth understanding of the z/OS operating system, including installation, customisation, testing & support.
• Fluent Assembler Programmer – experienced in writing re-entrant code
• Practical experience of both parallel & base Sysplex implementation & support
• SMP/E experience including product installation & creation of usermods
• IT security awareness / RACF
• Excellent understanding of the following: ISPF, TSO, JCL, SDSF. DFSMS, SMF & JES2
• Virtual storage knowledge: PLPA / SQA / CSA / Private
• Able to communicate at all levels & work under pressure
• Strong customer skills
• Several years practical experience working in a z/OS systems programming environment
• Must be a team player
Preferred:
Good knowledge / understanding of mainframe configuration
Familiar with problem and change management system
Knowledge of the following products: TWS, MIM/GRS, GDPS/XRC |
