Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the Backup and Restore Delivery Unit within IT Operations.
Major activities include: Managing functional staff located on-site and remote including both direct reports and matrix staff domestically and internationally. Serves as single point of contact for Backup and Restore related activities interfacing with OSY Managers, OSY’s Director, Delivery Management and Service Manager and under specific circumstances also interact with the customer in regards to delivered services as stated in agreed SLA. Work in conjunction with Transition and Service Managers to define /maintain standard customer dashboard for service reporting.
Works closely with assigned Delivery & Service Manager’s to determine how current and new technologies can be implemented and integrated to enhance system performance at the right time and at the right cost ultimately resulting in a competitive advantage. Consistently display model leadership qualities for team constantly enhancing performance and driving efficiency throughout the team. Supports and adheres to management of contractual agreements in compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities:
* Need to have ownership to each and every account. – Status availability twice a week on each account. Attend "Account Ownership Meeting"
* Define, manage, comply with Standards- To set these for T-systems and have deployed to all customers if possible. (Standard images)
* Define, manage, implement standard tools- Common tool set, Every site should have a minimum set of tools
* Educations on standard tools. Define training needs
* Create a technical direction based on customer and internal direction.
* Hold Functional team meetings including internationally
* Hold life cycle meetings, and manage customer expectation so that we are not supporting out of date equipment or software. – Quarterly architecture review
* Manage Vendor Relations
* Manage timesheet, PTO tracking and monitoring, Assist with Goals and Objectives
* Responsible for participating in large incident as a point of contact for management
* Aligns on-site team with T-Systems central resources and other regional team leads to foster best practice, collaboration and mutual support.
* Escalates to upper management, as required, regarding issues and problems that cannot be resolved.
* Identifies and evaluates opportunities to sell additional services and value-add process improvements within the organization.
Skills and Knowledge: * Ability to direct and coordinate efforts and actions across different functional service lines both domestically and internationally including virtualized teams. * Exceptional verbal and written communications skills; expertise in setting and managing customer expectations * Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels * Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the functional teams * Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements * Solid project management skills with ability to multitask and manage multiple small to large projects in a cross functional environment * Vendor negotiation and contract management experience Business Qualifications: * Minimum of 5 years experience in several Information Technology fields (Servers, Databases, Network, etc) * Two to Three years experience in Technical Operational or Service Level Management roles * Three to five years of demonstrated technical management/supervisory experience in systems operations, where most of the following occurred: o demonstrated competency in strategic reasoning and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management o demonstrated competency in project management and the execution of multiple or large projects o developed and implemented new work processes and/or process improvements successfully o experienced in working with customers to develop solutions to complex business problems * Experience with Disaster Recovery procedures is a plus. * Knowledge of Network (LAN/WAN) technologies and IT Security standards. * Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with an information technology focus, or equivalent technical training; advanced degree preferred * Best Practices experience or certification desired (ISO, ITIL, COBIT, Six Sigma), including regulatory compliances (SOX, SAS, HIPAA) * Proven written and oral communications and presentation skills * Demonstrated experience in working with technology related external vendors Technical Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of relevant job experience required to date. Experience should include exposure to commercial, administrative, or industrial work environments. * UNIX systems and Windows. * IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Version 5.3 or above. * Symantec VERITAS NetBackup version 5.X or above. * IBM TS-3500 and SUN SL3500 Tape Libraries. * Basic Knowledge of Virtual Tape Libraries. * Oracle RMAN * Some experience in Network and SAN is helpful. * Demonstrates an aptitude for systems work. * Adheres to procedures, maintains records, and follows problems through to resolution. * Demonstrates a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving. * Demonstrates the understanding and need for a governance model in support of change management
