Job Summary: Plans and implements nursing care, individualizing care as needed, without supervision. Able to manage routine and emergency care. Assumes basic leadership responsibilities.
Education/License: Graduation from an accredited School of nursing. BSN preferred. Current State of Alaska RN license.
Experience/Skills/Abilities: Advancement from CN II or a minimum of 3 years current acute care experience 2 of which are in primary unit specialty. Clinical competency in primary specialty and a minimum of one (1) float area required within one year of hire.
BLS: All nursing departments
ACLS: CCU, ER. OR, PACU
NRP: OB
CPI: ER, MHU, RRC
Physical Demands: Requires good general health. Moderate to occasional heavy lifting. Extensive standing, walking and handling of patients, equipment and supplies. Shift work including weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required. Physical and emotional stress associated in dealing with the varied physio/psychosocial needs of patients. Manual dexterity for key boarding. Clinical skills and operation of patient care equipment.
Hazardous Exposure/Working Conditions: Potential exposure to hazardous materials/situation including, but not limited to, blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, violent behaviors, chemical elements. Exposed to hazards associated with electrical equipment. Work is carried out in clinical, office, and classroom settings. Occasional irregular hours.
Equipment: Medical equipment related to patient care on assigned unit/s; e.G., IV pumps, fetal monitor, electric patient beds, VS monitors, medication carts, defibrillator, crash cart, etc. Computer hardware and software; i.E., Meditech, e-mail, word processing, internet. Telephones, patient call system, fire alarms, extinguishers, and oxygen shut-off valves.

Skills Required:: |
