Senior Research Developer
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for developing complex projects and information retrieving as well as data extraction from NMDP and CIBMTR databases for research and operational purposes. Responsibilities include analyzing customer specifications and requirements as well as business requirements; develop specifications, codes, tests, debug, and validates complex projects; document projects according to department guidelines; revises and updates programs and documentation as required; directing work and training to assigned technical staff or contractors; develop ad hoc queries and reports as required.
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1. Develop code for complex programs and information retrieving:
-Develops code for creating complex programs conforming to established methodologies and standards without supervision.
-Works with internal and external customers to define customer specifications and business requirements.
-Designs and creates database tables as necessary for software functionality.
-Prepares detailed specifications for development of new programs and code enhancements.
-Documents in detail complex programs conforming to company guidelines.
-Tests, debugs, documents, and validates all programs according to department guidelines.
-Collaborates with other developers in a team environment.
-Maintains software and reporting programs and tools.
-Identifies, documents, and resolves programming/database/application problems.
Develop code for data extraction:
-Develops code and creates files that include data for NMDP operational studies and CIBMTR research studies.
-Writes queries to databases to respond to data requests from internal and external users.
-Prepares detailed specifications for program modifications and development of new programs.
-Tests, debugs, documents, and validates all programs according to department guidelines.
3. Leading and training technical staff or contractors:
-Directs, coordinates and reviews work of assigned technical staff or contractors.
-Trains staff or contractors as needed.
Minimum Education:Bachelors degree in math, computer science, or a technical field that required extensive computer programming as part of the program degree.

Skills Required:: |
Minimum Experience:Six years experience as a programmer/analyst in a software development environment that required research-oriented programming and experience working with relational databases.
Key Knowledge:Knowledge of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and HLA is preferred.
Key Skills:Advanced programming skills in Perl, UNIX, and CGI, along with advanced skills using SAS or SPSS and SQL.
Knowledgeable in JAVA and/or .NET is a plus. Experience with relational |
