Electrical Engineering Manager: $30-$35 / hour
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Description of Responsibilities:
1. Project Management:
- Supervise contractor personnel and provide contract administration of the
contracted staff including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and personnel
management.
2. Electrical Engineering and/or Security Support:
- Provide a broad range of electrical engineering and oversight services to the
organizations located in the Region. Provides advice to regional managers,
supervisors, center engineers of existing technical policies, standard operating
procedures and maintenance and fabrication activities. Provides consultative
services for planning, designing, and modification work in the region.
- Assists in the preparation of the electrical portion of government estimates.
- Reviews design architect-engineers` working drawings and specifications for conformance with accepted practice and agency requirements.
- Conduct field surveys to investigate existing equipment layout and conditions.
Writes reports recommending corrective action on deficient conditions.
- Analyzes electrical needs, makes calculations and determines types of systems
most suitable to meet requirements of building within prescribed budgets.
- Conducts electrical engineering studies of an administrative nature
- Investigates a variety of contractor-experienced problems or other design modifications the contractor feels are necessary or desirable. Develops and reviews designs for required modifications needed for onsite structural and functional defects at facilities throughout the Region.
- Provides advice and guidance on the development, updating, and maintenance of engineering drawing of existing facilities in the Region, including modifications
and construction of new facilities.
- Conduct surveys and inspections of sites to evaluate physical security safeguards and identify vulnerabilities. The individual will be knowledgeable of the security standards as set forth by the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, the General Services Administration, the Department of the Interior, and the US Geological Survey.
- Review plans and drawings for construction and renovation projects to facilities to ensure the physical security considerations and standards are incorporated into the planning. Interact with architects and builders to ensure that safeguards are included.
- The individual to become knowledgeable of the policies and procedures mandated by the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 12- Policy for a Common Identification Standard for Federal Employees and Contractors and will advise Eastern Region science centers on the implementation of the ID Cards systems. The individual will provide advice concerning the use of the ID card into Building Access Systems.
- Provides advice to Science Centers on Building Intrusion Systems.
Education, Experience, and Training Requirements
- B.S. or higher in a technically related field or a 2-year technical degree
