Community Development Volunteers for Technical Assistance
(CDVTA Cameroon)
Who we are
CDVTA is a national not for profit non-government humanitarian organisation in Cameroon deeply committed to reducing suffering and poverty among the poorest people in the poorest communities. CDVTA also advocates, empowers, and builds older people’s understanding on their rights and at the same time improving their livelihoods. CDVTA lobbies the government and policy makers to formulate policies, recognising and promoting the respect for poor older people’s constitutional rights through legislation. CDVTA works towards improving the livelihoods of disadvantaged communities in a way that allows their participation in poverty alleviation, empowerment, capacity building and where the impact of the work is sustainable. The organization operates on the principles of equity and non-discrimination (either by race, religion, gender or caste)
Our mission
Our mission is to help the poorest older people living in under-represented environmentally fragile communities achieve lasting changes in their lives. In this respect, we work to create integrated communities, where very poor and starving older people and their grand children can lead meaningful and satisfactory lives, with dignity. We work with communities and groups that share our vision, of a society where the oppressed especially women, disabled and children are able to exercise their human rights and gain access to freedom.
Our vision
A society where everyone irrespective of status can lead a meaningful and satisfactory life with dignity, reducing poverty, improving livelihoods, accessing community support, understanding and claiming his or her rights as well as participating actively in local decision making structure, for national sector policy changes without oppression
