| Job Description: |
PURPOSE: Management of Piping and Layout discipline and supervision to develop piping and equipment layouts, which satisfy all requirements of the Basis of Design and delivers technical documentation to allow Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and preparations for Operations activities to proceed according to the Project Schedule. Management of the day to day functions of the department and team members.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Assist the Project Manager in the planning and development of the project and the Piping Layout discipline engineering documents, engineering schedules and budgets and the continuous monitoring of these documents.
Review and approve work responsibilities of the Piping Layout discipline personnel and the manpower requirements and qualifications of engineering personnel to be assigned to the Project.
Co-ordinate,control and supervise all engineering, design and materials control work carried out for the project in his group.
Ensure technical adequacy of engineering and design consistent with economy, good engineering practice, safety in design and specific requirements of the project.
Ensure that design changes are dealt with promptly and jobs done, which come under change order category, are brought to the Project Managers notice.
Ensure compliance with the prescribed Company, Clients and other Standards and local Regulations.
Forecast resource requirements and inform Project Manager of them.
Review of relevant project progress and cost reports.
Examine and monitor allocated project man-hour and expenditure of man-hour and institute remedial measures when necessary.
Evaluate and pursue design changes initiated within the discipline and those initiated by others.
Assist in the preparation of commissioning, operating and maintenance manuals as required by the project.
Provide construction and commissioning support for the project.
Provide response to queries from assembly yards.

Skills Required:: |
Minimum technical/ professional / job requirements:
provide technical leadership and guidance to all staff in his group.
Thoroughly understand the contractual scope of work and raise variation requests for any work not covered as part of the work scope but is required to be undertaken for job completion.
Risk identification and management.
Maintain effective liaison with other groups and departments in order to achieve project and company goal.
Maintain cordial relations with Client.
Provide motivation and leadership to staff together with full support to Engineering Manager/ Director of Projects in performance analysis and development of staff assigned to the team.
Should have at least 15 years of experience in Piping Design and Piping Layout work from Offshore and refinery installations.
Should have experience in supervision of the Piping Discipline in detail engineering projects with PDMS (3D) used as the design tool.
