Qualifications and skills
- Academic background (Master`s Degree or equivalent) in one of the following areas: environment-related sciences, economics, social sciences, or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of the EU regulatory framework related to water management;
-Sound knowledge of EU environmental policy and relevant international conventions in the Mediterranean region.
- Proficiency in English and French required; Arabic would be an asset.
General professional experience
- At least 10 years experience, among which 5 in the following areas (to be covered complementarily by the different experts):
- Institutional reform, legislation drafting, strategy formulation work in sector-specific fields, regional or local development policy;
- EU Environmental regulatory Framework (Water Framework Directive…);
Specific professional experience
- Substantial experience in water governance - Participation to environmental cooperation programmes, preferably in the Mediterranean region.
- Experience of environmental integration approaches in a wide range of policy areas and in use of environmental assessment tools;
The area of activity : Mediterranean : Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, occupied Palestinian Territory, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey. South Eastern Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro.
