We are recruiting a native English-speaking teacher/animal trainer to work as part of an EU-funded zoo-preschool project at the Magdeburg Zoo.
You will be part of the world`s first zoo with direct connections to a bilingual preschool located directly on zoo premises. Your English-language activities will serve to teach German-speaking preschool children between the ages of 3 and 6 about animal habitats and the care of animals.
What your responsibilities will be:
„« to provide stimulating, enjoyable and informative daily learning sessions to groups of up to 13 children (ages 3-6)
„« to work with the keepers` team in the zoo; tasks include the training of the zoo`s domesticated animal collection and some daily husbandry
„« to assist with zoo events, which may involve some evening and weekend work
„« to contribute to two team meetings and a symposium on the outcomes of our project work in collaboration with the preschool team
„« to help prepare teaching materials for English sessions on ecology, zoo-related themes, nature topics and environmental awareness for children

Skills Required:: |
What we are looking for:
„« you are an enthusiastic and responsible individual who likes to work with children
„« you have a teaching degree/certification, particularly in kindergarten or early childhood education
„« in addition you might have varied experience in keeping and training zoo animals (optional)
„« you are able to work both independently and as part of a small, close knit team
„« you are relatively comfortable conversing in German |
