Position Summary
In this position you will join a team of professionals responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting the systems of the core network service infrastructure. Applications will include Authentication, DNS, and NTP, residing in a heterogeneous environment comprised of servers and appliances running Windows and UNIX/Linux.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead the investigation of new architectures aimed to increase resiliency and efficiency, and will be responsible for testing and certifying new technologies both from a functional and capacity standpoint. The successful candidate will be a technical prime in resolving and documenting service incidents, will create and execute detailed implementation plans within scheduled maintenance windows, will conduct knowledge transfer sessions with internal customers, and will ensure all necessary support documentation is created and kept accurate.
Support of these mission critical systems will require maintenance work to be performed in off-peak windows and participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule. Travel may be required from time to time.

Qualifications
Essential Skills And Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of system administration experience in a fast paced, multifaceted environment
• In-depth understanding of Linux-based servers, including deploying and maintaining in a mission-critical environment; RedHat or SUSE knowledge preferred
• Strong understanding of DNS systems (BIND preferred); past experience with NTP, Syslog, NFS, and other standard network services
• Extensive experience writing bash- and Perl-based shell scripts, and using a CVS-based revision control system
• Experience with enterprise-class monitoring tools
• Experience completing product comparisons and evaluations, including functional and load testing, and interacting with vendors
• Demonstrated experience in system performance management techniques and performance-related system level tuning to meet `best practices`
• Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance; ability to meet deadlines and work either autonomously or in a group
• Capable of reacting quickly to problems and following established procedures to implement solutions; experience with proactive problem management
• Able to handle stressful situations with a level-headed approach and make extensive use of available resources
• Strong and effective interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visio
• General understanding of network principles and devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
• Bachelor degree in information technology, a related field, or equivalent experience in conjunction with industry certification (Systems Admin certifications preferred)
• Willingness to provide support in a mission-critical 24x7 operational environment, participating in an on-call rotation and performing scheduled maintenance
Additional Assets
• Experience working with php/mysql based interfaces
• Experience working with Windows-based systems and imaging techniques
• A background in ITIL processes
• Prior experience with Remedy and Livelink
• Past systems administration experience within an ISP environment preferred
