| Job Description: |
•1) Scientific Coordination:
- Coordinate all related scientific matters
- Is responsible for coordination related matters, including membership on ISDI scientific committee.
- Coordinates related work at Codex Alimentarius, in collaboration with member focal points
- Works closely with the communication manager to ensure that scientific information is translated properly into appropriate language in order to prepare statements and briefs for the ED
- Is responsible for guidance to internet information scanning and filtering for the purpose of information sharing at the global level and with regional and national associations
- Identifies opportunities collaboration with scientific and regulatory bodies of countries
- Manages and supervises member - funded projects at country-, regional- and global level
- Supervises Scientific consultants and interns as appropriate
•2) Research :
- Advises the ED in scientific matters, provides quality control and strategic advice to guide the ED in obtaining efficiently quality information on infant and young child nutrition.
- Advises the ED on technical aspects of the work of the Codex Alimentarius Committees and Commission.
- Keeps abreast of all infant and young child nutrition related scientific developments and informs and updates the ED and colleagues regularly
- Collaborates closely with R+D departments of member companies.
- Guides special working groups and consultants on scientific matters and specific Science/communication projects

Skills Required:: |
Skills and Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in epidemiology/public health or related area
- Specific experience in nutritional epidemiology
- Experience in data processing and quantitative and qualitative analysis of public health data
- Previous exposure to work in international organizations and developing countries
- Experience with health information systems of developing countries
- Capacity to handle large amounts of data
- Critical approach to quality of data
- Willingness to travel (up to 30%)
- Integrated approach - system thinker
- Understanding of importance of data for strong international health policy making
- Fluency in English, working knowledge in other relevant language an asset
- Familiarity with modern scientific information processing technology
