Work Experience
- 2002 - May2008 : General Manager of an import/distribution/export/retail business in Mauritius / Allworld International Company Limited.
- Sourcing a variety of products ranging from finished garments, imitation jewellery, sports shoes, school bags, handbags, beauty products,….
Achievement : Creating a small profitable honorable and growing business involved in a wide choice of products, we supplied to retail shops, to supermarkets, to hypermarkets, to wholesalers.
Reason for leaving : To start a new life in China with my Chinese bride to be, looking forward to a new life and challenge.
- 1998-2002 : International Bunker Sales Manager / Galana Raffinerie et Terminal Co Ltd.,(petroleum industry)
- Responsible for all bunkering activities, meaning supply of petroleum products to vessels for Madagascar and the Indian Ocean region
- Set up the bunkering marketing and sales strategy, to promote bunkering activities and develop sales of petroleum products to vessels
- Costing of bunker products, fix the sales price, discuss terms of payments and follow up on payments
- Set up the administrative, accounting and sales procedures
- Communicate with customers, coordinate product delivery with the teams in Madagascar and elsewhere
Achievement : Virtually starting the bunkering business from scratch, solidly implanting it, growing the business by 750% yearly.
Reporting : directly reporting to the Chairman.
Client List : transiting vessels for topping up, some French and Spanish fishing fleets, a Mauritian shipping line.
Reason for leaving : Political instability caused closure of the refinery and consequently that of all bunkering activities.
- 1995-1998 : Country Manager / Linmark Westman Group (international textile buying agency)
- Responsible for all operations in Mauritius and Madagascar, meaning Administrative, QA, Merchandising, and Development.
- Visit the local textile factories, conduct factory visits and evaluation, report to Singapore Head Office.
Achievement : Redressed and maintained the office’s overall performance which was highly praised, we convinced a top US customer to appoint us
as their agent by dire perseverance and professionalism.
Reporting : directly reporting to the General Manager of Linmark-Westman Singapore office.
Client List : Jockey International, Oxford Shirtings, The Bay, Zellers, ………..etc….
Reason for leaving : The South East Asia 1997 Financial Crisis adversely affected us, we lost a number of key customers’ orders, and the office was closed except for a QC presence to continue inspections on the existing orders.
- 1991-1995 : Marketing & Sales Officer / China Win Mauritius Co Ltd (textile, factory closed down in 1996)
- Responsible for the printing department in all-over and panel prints, and for sampling selection and despatching.
- Responsible for storage, marketing and sales of all stock products both locally and internationally.
Achievement : Building a successful network and sales of several million Rupees a year.
Reporting : Directly to the Managing Director.
Reason for leaving : Company closed down due to mismanagement.
