I participated in an educational project for communities which are exposed to biological hazards, accidents and disasters related to the handling of wild fauna and control of wild animal’s traffic.
Internship:
July 30 2006-February 4 2007 -FundaciÓn Zoologica De Cali –cafs (cali’s Zoological foundation-Colombia)
Duties:
1-- Medical support in emergencies and surgeries.
2-Giving anesthesia
3- Monitoring hospitalized animals
4-, outpatient consultation (, vaccination, administering anti parasitic medicines)
5-Testing animals in quarantine
6-necropsies
7-Taking, storaging & sending samples to the histology laboratory
8-Medical attention to small animals and ornamental species.
9-Sterilization
10-Evaluation and execution of bio-safety programs
11-All the necessary medical attention for confiscated animals from traffickers as stated above (items 1-10).
Clinical university Rotations:
1-Santa Cruz Zoo Foundation (march 2006- April 2006): monitoring clinical and medical procedures to animals in the zoo, whether hospitalized or not.
2-Small Animal’s Hospital (april 2006- May 2006): Clinical assistance in surgery procedures, outpatient consultation, and attention in emergencies. Clinical case presentation.
3- Small Animals Surgery: Clinical assistance, monitoring anesthesia, assisting in vaccinations city campaigns (May 2006- June 2006)
