Feb 05 - Jan 09 Swiss Federal Institute of Technology , Lausanne, Switzerland.
Research assistant at the MultiMedia Signal Processing Group (MMSPG). This consists in working in the field of video compression on different European projects such as The Distributed Coding for Video Services project (DISCOVER) and the Networked Audiovisual Media Technologies project (VISNET II). Our main contribution to these projects was solving problems related to video compression and provide the implemented solutions in C++. Moreover, I worked on the performance optimization and evaluation of video coding standards such as Advanced Video Coding (AVC)/H.264, Motion JPEG2000 and JPEG-XR (or HD Photo). Finally, I also performed a feasibility study for an industrial partner in order to investigate low complexity DVB-T to DVB-H transcoding.
I was the leader teaching assistant (including organization and supervision of laboratory sessions) of the following courses several times: Image and Video Processing (Master course), Media Security (Master course) and Selected Topics on Image Processing (Doctoral school course). I also supervised student projects during my PhD with the following titles: Multiview Distributed Video Coding, Multiview Video Coding, Error-Resiliency in Distributed Video Coding and Complexity Reduction with Multigrid Motion Search for Video Coding
Emitall Surveillance SA, Lausanne, Switzerland.
Consultant for the company Emitall Surveillance SA to assist them in the development of their video surveillance system.
July 04 - Jan 05 Emitall Surveillance SA, Lausanne, Switzerland.
Software engineer, implementing a video surveillance demonstrator using the Motion JPEG2000 compression technology and C++. Enable the demonstrator’s remote control via mobile phone using SMS.

Academic Projects Experience
Jan 04 – Jun 04 Video Surveillance using Jpeg2000 (master Thesis Work): Development of a video surveillance system using standardized technologies (Motion Jpeg2000, Secured Jpeg2000-jpsec and JPEG2000 Wireless-JPWL). It included the development of a change detection module and a face detection module. The video is secured by performing a scrambling on the face region to protect people’s privacy. The tools used for the implementation are the C++ programming language (Ms Visual Studio C++) and Intel’s open source Computer Vision library OpenCV.
Oct 02 – Mar 03 Publish-Subscribe Mechanism: Implementation of a Publish-Subscribe mechanism using the Microsoft .Net technology (C#). Then, it was used to implement a real time advertisement system over internet to illustrate the mechanism.
Oct 00 – Mar 01 Multimodal Data Acquisition: Implementation in JAVA of a video capture application. It captures a video from a video device connected to a PC and then transmits the video file to a centralized server to create a multimodal database.
Mar 00 – July 00 Video Store: Modeling and implementation of software the management of a video store using UML, JAVA and SQL.
Oct 99 – Mar 00 Database project: design phase, and SQL implementation using ORACLE.
