Extensive experience and knowledge of general building work and electrical work within the building and construction industries, including managing and supervising teams of workmen on building site projects and ensuring their adherence to health and safety regulations. Successful project management of the construction of a new classroom and accommodation in a Kenyan orphanage whilst serving in the Royal Navy.

Responsible for site acquisition – particularly in controversial locations such as conservation areas - and installation of mobile telephone masts in the South East of England for Orange (mobile phone network supplier).
This job required detailed knowledge of planning processes and the process for acquiring suitable installation sites; ensuring adherence to the Government’s Code of Practice; and, consultation with local authorities and the general public.
Professional project management, consulting, negotiating, customer relations and inter-personal skills, as well as a detailed, methodical approach, were vital for this complex role.
Another role involved mobile telephone mast auditing in Southern England for 02 (mobile phone network supplier).

Jul 75 – Aug 98 Career in the Royal Navy during which I held a variety of roles that tested to the full my leadership, inter-personal and managerial skills, and my ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure, particularly during times of conflict. Major responsibilities included:
o Service in the 1982 Falklands War (with Distinction)
o Service in the 1991 Gulf War
o Full Communications Charge of Fleet manoeuvres during exercises and times of conflict
o In Charge of tactical planning and manoeuvres of staffing ships for major NATO exercises
o Interviewing and Recruitment of personnel into the Royal Navy
