Responsibilities have included risk management and regulatory (compliance) approval.

    - As a Writer/Communicator, have had pieces published and quoted in the Canadian national press (Globe & Mail) and locally. Have developed white papers on a wide variety of subjects including knowledge management, leadership, and best practices in establishing bio-technology clusters. Have speech-written at the federal and municipal political levels.

    - As a Management Consultant, have developed and presented strategic, business, marketing and information systems-related analyses and plans, feasibility studies, impact analyses, risk management assessments, and project status reports. Audiences have included the Board of Directors of a multi-national corporation, the Board of Directors of a national foundation, various senior management and divisional management teams, community groups and individuals.

    - As an Organizational and Human Resource Development Consultant have provided business, marketing, and information systems consulting services to clients, as well as leadership, management development and technical skills programs. Have developed and presented workshops and seminars on topics that include the role of technology in business, organizational visioning, leadership and performance development.

    - Representative Project: Mayor’s Task Force on Poverty (Kingston) – Beginning with the incumbent mayor’s successful 2006 re-election campaign, developed a white paper on poverty in the local community, coordinated recruitment of the task force members on behalf of the mayor’s office, coordinated logistics for the task force, conducted its research, oversaw development of its communications materials, and wrote its final report.     - Established the Cedar Ridge Consulting Group Ltd., marketed and managed the affairs of the firm initially in the information systems and training industries and later in the publishing sector. Key activities prior to the sale of the business in 1996 included:

    - May/92-Jan/96 Founding Publisher/Editor of The Rideau Review, a well-regarded weekly newspaper serving 10,000 homes and businesses in the Rideau Lakes Tourism Region of Eastern Ontario. Also founded Rural Leeds, an annual tourism magazine with a circulation of 25,000. Managed a staff of up to nine editorial, production and administrative resources working in a fully digital publishing environment. As a community leader, was called upon to facilitate and negotiate resolution to several major community issues.

    - Jul/89-May/92 After leaving Canada`s National Capital Region of Ottawa-Hull, re-established Cedar Ridge as a Designated Training Organization under the Province of Ontario`s Ontario Skills Development Program. Computer and business accounting training was provided to both private and public sector clients, as well as sales and service of computer hardware and software.

    - Apr/87-Jul/89 While in the Ottawa-Hull area, fulfilled several management consulting and project management assignments with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Projects included development of CBC`s Employment Equity Reporting System, a variety of feasibility studies and impact analyses, and hands-on management of two mainframe systems maintenance teams.

    - Responsible for a broad range of management functions for an information systems consulting firm operating in a start-up, fast-growth environment. Specific duties included identification and analysis of marketing opportunities, recruitment and human resource management.
