I am currently looking for job position as a structural civil engineer.
While working with design and supervision consultants for last 10 years, I have developed skills to produce independently complete structural design (3D model, calculations, code check, framing plans, schedules, sectional details etc) for buildings, and complete infrastructure design (3D model, calculations, code check, layout plans, profiles, details etc) for a town.
I am currently employed by Amjaad Engineering Consultancy which is a small company in Muscat, Oman.
Currently, I am working on development of structural design for a number of office and apartment buildings. My work mostly involves design of reinforced concrete structures with some design of steel structures where needed.
Previously I was employed by Arch Centre in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. It is a small consulting firm but we were fortunate to get some big projects on which I worked including a new campus for a university, a radio station, a housing scheme and a bus maintenance facility. Additionally I worked on structural design of some hotels and office buildings.
During my career I have the opportunity to work in other roles in addition to structural engineer on some projects related to other fields of civil engineering including rehabilitation of water supply and treatment system ---EBMUD Oakland (a big network with 1 million users water is coming from Sierra Nevada through an aqueduct), grading and stormwater management for many new housing projects in San Francisco Bay Area (CALEPA is very sensitive about these issues Clients were Shapell Industries and Shea Homes Eagle Ranch in Gilroy and Dublin Ranch in Dublin are some examples), Mirani Dam a rock filled dam in Turbat Pakistan (Knight Pisold & NESPAK was our design reviewer while working for DESCON).
Fortunately I have worked in many branches of Civil Engineering and have tried to achieve proficiency in each one of them. Desktop engineering is one of the most exciting tools which are available to todays engineer. Finite element modeling has completely changed the practice of engineering design. Currently I am more involved in structural engineering and using ETABS, SAFE and SAP2000 with success for most of my building design. Additionally I am supplementing my design with manual checks using Prokon and Excel spreadsheets. Many times we have to use other tools such as STAADPRO, Civil FEM/ Ansys. Previously while working for infrastructure projects I have used WaterCAD, StormCAD, SewerCAD, Civil3D and LDT for my projects. I have also used ESRI ArcGIS for development of terrain model for some of projects.
Still I am a keen learner. I am trying my hands on MSc PATRAN, Ansys and Fluent. Also I have been using CSC Orion, CSC structural office, STUDL and Robot in comparison with ETABS. I am a member of ACI and studying the latest literature.
I am a strong believer of BIM and started on this couple of years ago. I started using ADT, ArchiCAD and Revit . Currently I am using Revit structures for many of my project but only at personal level or just for preliminary framing plans but it interface well with ETABS.

Project: Al Tilal Housing Project, Madinah Al Munawarah, KSA (100 Million USD)
Worked as a senior structural engineer for design review and construction supervision of 499 villas developed by Dar Al Arkan (a well known developer) in Madinah Al Munawarah, Responsibilities included review of alternate structural design, shop drawings, approval of modifications, approval of materials and management of a team of inspectors and surveyors. Manage inspection work on daily basis from two contractors with the help of 5 inspectors and 3 surveyors. Monitor quality of concrete casting and supervise repair works if required (field conditions are aggressive due to very hot climate and unskilled labor).
Project: Radio Station at Jazan, KSA (2 Million USD)
Responsible for design development and preparation of structural tender documents for buildings included in radio station. Designed employees resident villa (RC Beam Column Hordi Slab Structure), Main Building (Beam Column Slab Structure), Maintenance Workshop Building, Storage Building, Electrical Switch Gear Building and underground water tanks.
Project: New Campus for King Faisal University at Al Ahsa - (2.5 billion USD)
Worked as design manager for development of engineering design for the new campus facility. Responsibilities included coordination between all disciplines, development of tender documents and interaction with the Client. Additionally developed structural design for various buildings including Festival Hall, Library Building, Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Pump House Building and underground & above ground water storage tanks. Typical configuration for the structures included RC exterior walls, internal RC beam-column frame supporting hollow core slab.
Project: Bus Maintenance Facility for SAPTCO in Riyadh, KSA (200 Million USD)
Responsible for design of infrastructure for the new bus maintenance facility including site grading, roads, water supply system, sanitary wastewater management system, storm water management system, pump stations, deep wells, and water & wastewater treatment plants.
Project: Hotel Buildings, Al Madinah Al Munawarah (100 Million USD)
Worked as main structural designer for development of structural design and preparation of tender drawings for 3 hotel buildings (Plot # 2100, Plot # 3106, and Plot #3104) developed by Al Rabiah Estate (Al Jomiah Group ) in Al Madinah. Responsibilities included coordination with architects and client representative, performance of all design calculations, preparation of drawings and getting approval from Madinah Central Committee. The hotel building has 11 floors and two basements
Project: Al Showaier Towers, Riyadh (80 Million USD)
Worked as main structural designer for development of structural design and preparation of tender drawings for 14 storey high Al Showaier Towers in central area of Riyadh. The building has triangular floor plan which increases with height. The building has a car park in the basement. Al Showaier Towers, a set of three buildings (one repeated three times) have been constructed.
Project: Retaining Wall for King Abdul Aziz City of Science and Technology ( 0.5 Million USD)
Worked as main structural designer for development of structural design and preparation of tender drawings for 350 m long concrete retaining wall along the South boundary wall adjacent to the roadway for KACST research farm.
Design Engineer 2002-2003

Project: Wastewater treatment plant - Al Buradiah Saudi Arabia (15 Million USD)
Performed design of wastewater treatment plant in Al Buradiah Saudi Arabia. The plant consisted of 2 oxidation ditch reactors followed by clarifiers and sand filters. Developed the engineering design and prepared tender drawings. Existing facility consisted of aerated lagoons which was insufficient for treating wastewater of Al Buradiah City.
Project: Stormwater drainage master planning for the City of Jeddah Saudi Arabia
Performed design of stromwater drainage system for the City of Jeddah (a joint project with Saud Consult). Data for existing stormwater network was obtained for the municipalities, site survey and as built drawings. The existing sewer was re-evaluated and new sewers were proposed. All the data of storm sewer design was presented to city mayor. All data was transferred to GIS layers using Intergraph Geomedia and Mapinfo as per municipality requirements.

Project: Mirani Dam, Turbat (100 Million USD)
Responsible for planning and scheduling of construction activities for the construction of Marani Dam. Additional tasks included development of project quality control plan, method statements for construction of civil works. The project included design and construction of rock fill dam embankment, roller compacted spillway, access road from Turbat to Mirani, distribution canals, bridges and watercourses. Used primavera project planner for development of construction schedule.
