I am 41 and a graduate (piano/composition) from the UK and I am also a qualified teacher of music and EFL. I have experience of teaching EFL in Japan, the UAE and in the UK. In Japan, I taught at Shane schools and St Mary College as well as at Mitsubishi Corporation. At Shane, I taught group classes to children and adults as well as Japanese businessmen. At St Mary College, I taught EFL to students (18+) and I taught English to engineers at Mitsubishi through this college too. In the UAE, I taught English to civil servants at Abu Dhabi University and also the military.
I am also a qualified music teacher and have taught music for a number of years at UK secondary schools. I am now seeking a full-time post abroad and would be interested in teaching EFL to students at an asian university or in the Middle East, because I have experience of teaching in higher education in Japan and in the UAE. In classes, I have taught various levels of students from beginners to advanced and I have also taught business English classes and some ESP at Mitsubishi. I have used a variety of EFL coursebooks including the well-known ones such as Headway to ones specific for the Middle East oil market such as Powerbase. I am used to modern classrooms and the use of smartboards and projectors and I have used resources from the internet and my own materials for in-classroom demonstrations. I teach all the principals of EFL methodology and focus on areas which students need the most to ensure a continuous progression in their language aquisition.
I am currently in the UK and so I do not have an alien registration, but would happily apply for one if you were interested in my credentials and experience.
This is my application and general history of teaching and I would be happy to discuss my experience at interview, should I be short-listed for the post. I am only interested in teaching at a higher education institute/university/petroleum company or a language school for adult students.
