2006/7 On & offshore services
Working on the SSP Piranema project Rotterdam (Holland)
Starting as mechanic but this evolved into material coordination on the same level as the material coordinator, and taking over his work when he left on holiday. Due to my local knowledge I was able to do this very well.
2005/6 Mika sveis & mek as (Bryne) Norway
Since January this year I was employed by this company to assemble a 250 ton capable drill tower designated for the Netherlands in conjunction with EDM, now Sense EDM Bryne.
Here I assembled, made modifications, drawings in 3D, fitting and turning (machining) of parts, or modifications to parts. A combination of hands on and design which suits me very well.
2004 Menkel motorcycles (Bergen op Zoom) The Netherlands
Part time contract in between jobs, and a chance to get my hands dirty for once and keep my experience up to date! Here I was chief mechanic in charge of all on season repairs and maintenance on all types of motorcycles, rebuilding of engines, checking machines for roadworthiness etc. and guiding a student in the same direction.
2002 - `03 Electron Hoogspanning, (Spie) (Breda) The Netherlands
Started employment with this company as an assistant draftsperson in 2D on diverse High voltage electrical Projects using AutoCad 2000 assisting on the project Goldisthal
An VEAG PSW Goldisthal Alstom project build into a mountain. Here we connected the generators to the transformers. Due to language problems with the installation I suggested a 3D drawing of the complete project to give a better overview, this helped speed up installation as well.
RWE-KW Niederaussen This project was an enclosed busbar system. I was also involved in another busbar system design for DOW Germany. I designed an new extension for replacement transformers at Goldenberg. The company also had an opportunity to do preliminary drawings in preparation for a quote for a project for MIM (Mount Isa Mining)Townsville, as part of a project to be built in Russia. I was the designer and contact person on this project.
After completion I was given my own projects to complete, which were all drawn in 3D; these were as follows; KUN (Catholic University Nijmegen)
This company won the contract to design and build the power supply connection for a new lab where 6 of the largest most powerful electro magnets in the world are to be placed for testing. These connections had to be unique but also due to the lack of room and hi voltage, which results in, hi temperatures created while in operation, the connections had to be water-cooled! This part of the project was designed by myself.
DOW Deutschland GmbH , We submitted a proposal with drawings all of which were drafted in 3D by myself, to install a high voltage power supply in a special factory to be build in the Germany, this project was from outset drawn in 3D using AutoCad, this made the whole project more visual, we won the project.
2001 Scheldebouw Permastalisa (Middelburg) The Netherlands
A company that specialises in cladding for all types of buildings including the Sydney opera house, draftsperson 2D for various projects, design and drafting of cladding for an upper extension to a Bank Building on 120 Fleet Street London. overview as well as production drawings, each panel and each component drawings. This company specialises in aluminium, glass insulated cladding, to complete assemblies with items parts lists added onto the drawings using windows excel.
A project given to me was Heron Quays 5 (HQ5)
Here I did the original outlay of the building to determine how many panels and what size of panels we were going to use, at the final layout there were close to 2000 individual panels going to be used for this building, then production drawings and installation procedures. This building, which has since been completed in Canary Warf London.
2000 UCB (Breda), The Netherlands
Using AutoCad 14, to assist on the drafting of a new skid base for a North Sea oil drill platform. mainly consisting of steel construction drawings.
Assisting with design drawing of major railway bridge at Amsterdam Central Railway Station.
2000 Rompa (Terheijden) The Netherlands
A unique opportunity for myself, by being able to prove that I can draft very well in 3D here I designed several plastic vacuum moulds, the major project being that for the assembly trays for the new philishave for Phillips. I was originally employed for one project as I had no previous experience in this field, but it went so well and I grasped the idea very quickly, that I stayed on designing several moulds by myself, for 6 different projects.
And after leaving the company, they hired me as a contractor to draft a complete set of moulds.
1999 Narvik-Yarway (Heerle) The Netherlands
Draftsperson 2D AutoCad 14 LT, Consisted mainly of sales drawings of de-superheaters, as well as some production drawings of de-superheaters and all associated parts.
After working at this company for several months updating their AutoCad system I started work with one of their engineers to develop some products, eg. quick release mechanism in case a de-superheater failed! The last 3 months I was put in charge to develop their SU temp which is a de-superheater where the injectors are separated from the rest of the system to prevent breakages at high temperatures, this went into production just before the contract ran out!
