    • Period : December 2005-July 2007

    Position: DCS panel operator
Company & Location: Petroconsult SRL for Attahaddy gas plant development
Project –Sirte Oil Company- Libya .

    Plant description &
    Responsibilities :
The Attahaddy gas plant has been designed for treating raw sour natural gas from the Attahaddy gas field by reducing CO2 content and ensuring the compliance with the water and hydrocarbon dew point temperature specifications. The feed gas contains about 12% CO2 and a sizable amount of condensate. The feed gas is collected from the production wells by individual flow lines and is received into the plant in three manifolds. The gas is separated and treated in two identical and independent processing trains, each designed with a front end separation unit; an Acid Gas Removing unit, a Propane Refrigeration unit and a Condensate Processing unit. Both trains are sharing the common facilities as the inlet manifolds, the test separator, the Heating Medium system, the amine storage system, the Mercury Removal system and the flare system.
The front end separation unit remove water, sand and, by cooling the gas, the main amount of condensate. In the Acid Gas Removing unit the CO2 content is decreased to below 2 % by absorption in MDEA solution in an absorption tower, followed by the MDEA solution regeneration. The Propane Refrigeration unit reduces the gas temperature in chillers to ensure the proper water content and the hydrocarbon dew point temperature. This system also uses an MEG injection and regeneration unit for removing the water from the gas. The liquid propane is evaporated in the chillers and is liquefied after been compressed in the propane compressors. The condensate processing unit collect all the condensate from the train, and flashes the condensate to the proper bubble point necessary for transport.
The treated gas from both trains is routed to the Mercury Removal unit where traces amount of mercury are removed and then the gas is routed to the pipeline.
The Utilities and Off-Site Section consist in a Nuovo Pignone Gas Turbine and Generator for the power generation, Demineralised Water system, Raw Water storage and Potabilization system, Fire Fighting system, Instrument and Service Air system using air compressors and the associated dehydration unit, Nitrogen generation package, Fuel Gas system, Flare system .
I was involved in all the plant activities, in all the areas, controlling the plant using the DCS system, during the plant normal operations, start-ups, normal and emergency shutdowns also during the maintenance activities.
As a DCS operatorI had the following duties and responsabilities:
To comply with all company Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
